Bristol Fungarium personal project. After much research I had imported an device from the US that can make music from the Funghi. I rented a very niche and interesting probe lens to capture some obscure lunar landscape videos to play with the audio recordings. After learning the story of the Cordyceps species (middle video) I decided to go sinister with the synth choice to interpret the MIDI data recorded from this exact Funghi. Cordyceps mycelium attack the tissue of various insects and controls their nerve system. I first saw this on an old David Attenborough documentary with a species evolved with ants. I was always fascinated by the zombie aspect of this species reproduction. After being infected the host species walks (as a zombie) up a tree or to a new area and the Cordyceps sprout from its body. I was imagining if this evolved into humans there would be actual zombies walking around. After w quick search it seems a video game has also used this plot.
